A weekly Gathering Place for YSAs in Springville has been established and we ask that you extend a personal invitation to all graduating seniors and all other YSAs in your ward boundary to attend the Gathering Place.
A Gathering Place is a space where young single adults can participate in uplifting activities and experiences that strengthen connections with one another and with the Lord. For now, it consists of Institute classes and a dinner every Thursday night. The Gathering Place is held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 50 N Main Street in Springville. For more information about gathering places for young single adults please refer to the following website:

Smooth Out the Emotional Roller Coaster
In these times of strong and conflicting emotions, it’s good to learn how to regulate your emotional outbursts. Here’s a good way to do so:
Create space and pause: When you feel an intense emotion, take a breath and slow down the moment between the trigger and your response. This pause allows you to engage your rational thinking and avoid sudden emotional breakdowns.
Develop self-awareness]: In the moment, notice and name the specific emotions you are feeling. Identifying your emotions is the first step towards regulating them.
Physically trigger control: Use techniques like breath control or relaxing your physical senses to calm your body, which in turn helps calm your mind.
Reframe: Look at the situation from different perspectives, more positive perspectives, if you can. This can take some use of your imagination.
Calm down: Try physical techniques like taking a cold shower, holding an ice cube, or other things that provoke a distracting physical sensation to soothe your nervous system.
Acceptance over suppression: Allow yourself to fully feel your emotions, rather than trying to push them down. It’s ok to have emotions. And to feel them. By accepting them, it can be easier to avoid reacting to them.
Figure out what works best for you. Then know that the first time you try likely won’t be successful, but over time, you will be able to do it.
