What does Family History Look Like To You?
In last month’s ward newsletter a quote from a New York Times article stated that: “The more children knew about their family’s history, the stronger their sense of control over their lives, the higher their self-esteem and the more successfully they believed their families functioned.
Elder Russell M. Nelson stated “When our hearts turn to our ancestors, something changes inside us. We feel part of something greater than ourselves.” (Generations Linked in Love April 2010)
So I have continued to ask the question, What does Family History look like to you? To 16 year old Katherine it looks like setting a goal to be baptized, for those who have passed on, 100 times in the year 2024. She ended up with 106 at the end of the year.
To Brenda and her husband, it looks like writing poems together with their family to describe family outings or special occasions.
Take time this month to ask your family this question and share together. It will bless your life and the lives of your family.
If you have questions or need ideas Forrest and I are available and are learning how new technology is making it faster and easier to connect with our ancestors.
